Andy Horsman
Managing Director and Solicitor, since 1996

Andy is well known and highly regarded by existing clients, for his work as a specialist Criminal Defence Solicitor in the Brighton area.

Over the years, he has built up a legal team of highly skilled and dedicated staff, so as to ensure the firm's clients continue to have the best possible defences and representation available to them.

Running his own firm since the 1990's, Andy is vastly experienced and always available to help his clients with any criminal allegation you may be accused of.


Philip Wakeham
Director and Barrister, since 1978

Phil has extensive experience in defending the most serious charges in the Crown Court and the Court Of Appeal.

After practicing as a Barrister in London for thirty years, Phil's advocacy skills and persuasive legal argument are second to none.

Phil is widely regarded and respected as a most senior Barrister that appears before the Courts.


Josie Sonnessa
Director and Solicitor, since 2006

After obtaining her Higher Rights, Josie now appears before the Crown Court. She is widely regarded by our firm's clients as being a superb criminal defence solicitor.

Josie is a specialist in all Criminal Defence work, also appearing at the Youth and Magistrates Courts, in addition to being a Director of the Firm..


Tom Nicholson Pratt
Barrister, since 1986

After 30 years experience at the Independent Bar, Tom joined our Crown Court Team bringing his vast experience in defending the most serious cases that come before the Courts,

Tom has excellent legal knowledge, experience and advocacy skills to further ensure our clients have the best representation available to them, in the Crown Court.


Sarah Thorne
Barrister, since 1995

Sarah spent 17 years at Westgate Barristers Chambers in Lewes, representing clients in the Crown Court on all charges ranging from theft to murder.

In 2012 Sarah further qualified as a Duty Solicitor, working for Criminal Defence Firms in East Sussex.

In 2016 she joined our firm, adding to the Advocacy skills of our Crown Court Team to represent the Firm's clients.


Lesley Hutchison
Licensed Paralegal, since 1991

Lesley is highly regarded by Crown Court Judges, in her preparation of our Crown Court cases. Working closely with our Solicitors and Barristers, Lesley ensures the best possible representation of our clients interests, in managing the Crown Court Department.

Lesley is also qualified to represent clients in the Magistrates Court and at the Police Station.


Cathy Walker
Qualified in 2001

Since 2001 when Cathy passed her Police Station Representative qualifications, she has worked for a number of Criminal Defence Firms in East Sussex. In 2008 Cathy further qualified as a Magistrates Court Advocate. Joining our firm in 2015, Cathy now represents our clients at the Police Station, Youth and Magistrates Court bringing a wealth of experience with her.


Alison Reeby
Solicitor, since 1995

After working in London at a major Criminal Defence Firm for ten years, Alison moved to Sussex in 2006.  Being highly experienced in defending all criminal allegations at the Police Station, youth and Magistrates Courts, Alison re-joined our team in 2017 to provide excellent representation for our clients.


Salome Verrell
Solicitor, since 1998

Representing the Firms clients at the Police Station and Magistrates Courts, Sal is highly skilled in her legal argument, combining her workload at Horsman Solicitors, whilst teaching Law as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Law in London.


Simon Landivar
Qualified, since 2006

Simon completed the Bar Vocational Course in 2006, before working for a London Firm specialising in Serious Crime.

He further re-qualified as a Solicitor in 2011 and now represents our clients in the Police Station and Magistrates Courts.

Simon is regarded as a technically gifted Solicitor, bringing a wealth of experience with him, in defending all criminal allegations.


Ramin Shamsolahi
Solicitor since 2009

Ramin represents the firms clients in the Police Station and covers the whole range of criminal allegations in the Youth and Magistrates Courts.

He has extensive knowledge of criminal law and procedures.


Jennifer Law
Solicitor since 2010

Jen qualified as a Solicitor in 2010 practicing in areas of Criminal Law and Family Law.

Joining our firm in 2016, Jen now represents our clients at the Police Station and Magistrates Court in defending the whole range of any criminal allegations you may be accused of.


Michael Weeks
Solicitor since 1978

Originally practicing in East Sussex as a defence solicitor, Michael further qualified as a Higher Court Advocate in Reading.

Joining our firm in 2017, Michael brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with him to represent the firm’s clients at the Police Station and the Courts, so adding to the quality of Horsman Solicitors Legal Team.

Kim brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the firm in representing our clients at the Police Station, on a freelance basis.
